A Very Merry First Christmas

Blake had a great First Christmas.  He waited up for Santa with his Grandma's and Grandpa's on Christmas Eve.  He spent Christmas Day at his Grandma and Grandpa Robertson's and the evening with his cousins at Grandma Pat's and Grandpa Ed's.

A Very Busy December

Blake's schedule was full of many family outings during the month.  He ventured out to do some Christmas shopping and he visited with Santa.  Blake also meet more of the family at the annual Olander/Grawer Christmas Party.  Before Christmas, he celebrated his cousin Madison's 14th Birthday.

A Day at the Park

On Sunday, we took advantage of the nice weather and took Blake for a picnic in the park.

Blake Goes to School

Friday was Blake's first day at his Day Care.  His teachers reported that he did just fine.  Kevin and I also survived the day away from Blake.  He must have been very busy because he was just exhausted Friday night.  He slept from 6:30 - 10:30.  We had to wake him for a bottle.  He went back to sleep around 11:30 and slept until 7 the next morning.

Last Week with Mom

Last week Blake and I took it easy.  We just hung aroung the house and tried to savor every minute together because it was the last week we got to spend together before I went back to work.

Blake's First Halloween

I think Blake had fun on Halloween.  He had a very busy day.  He paid a visit to Mom's work and met some of the teachers and kids.  Then he spent the evening at his Aunt Lisa's house visiting with Grandma Pat, Grandpa Ed, his cousins and his Auntie Betty and Uncle Denny.  We got home late that night so needless to say Blake was very, very sleepy yesterday.

2 Months Old

Blake is changing and growing so fast.  It is hard to believe he is 2 months old now.  To us he looks huge but others say he is tiny.  He is busier than ever.  He has gone on lots of outings.  Blake has ventured out to church, Target, Olive Garden, card class, and the library.

A Busy Week

Blake was very busy last week.  He started the week with a visit from a new friend, Will.  The boys had lots of fun playing together.  Then Blake had a couple of doctor appointments.  He also spent some time with his Grandmas and Grandpas.  Blake ended his week with his first official outing to his Grandma Pat's and Grandpa Ed's house.  There he celebrated his Grandma Pat's Birthday and finally got to meet his cousins and Uncle Jason.

1 Month Old

We can't believe that Blake has been with us for one whole month.  He continues to feed well and is gaining weight.  He is now up to 5 lbs. and  9 oz.  He goes to the doctor tomorrow.

Blake is getting use to his home surroundings.  He enjoys going for walks.  He is starting to like his swing and bouncy seat more.  But his 2 favorite things are his sling and his froggy.

Play Time with Blake

Blake seems to enjoy playing with his toys.  He likes to look at all the different shapes of the toys and listen to the music.  He even reaches out to touch the different animals.
Here is a video of Blake playing with one of his favorite toys, Froggy.

3 Weeks Old

Are you ready for some Football?
We can't believe Blake is 3 weeks old already and has been home with us for a whole week.  Blake had fun hanging out on Sunday with Dad watching the pitiful Rams game.  He did fall asleep half way through.  He also talked via Skype with his Uncle Jon and Aunt Julie in Arkansas.

Adjusting to Home

Blake did well his first night at home.  He was very restful.  We are all continuing to adjust to being home.  We certainly have our good times and our fussy times.  Blake seems to enjoy taking in his new surroundings.  He just loves to look all around his room.  Yesterday, Blake had a few visitors.  He is very grateful for all of the gifts and the yummy food.  Today we went for a walk and he tried out his bouncey seat.

Progress and Answers

As of Thursday, we met with the Occupational Therapist/Feeding Specialist.  She was great!  After observing Blake take a bottle she realized that he needed a special bottle.  Once we got Blake comfortable he was able to take in 40 ml. of milk with no problems.  They put Blake on a strict feeding plan so he must take at least 40 ml. of milk in 20 minutes without falling asleep and do this every 3 hours.  The schedule can be quite grueling but Blake is gaining weight.  Yesterday he put on 2 more ounces.  Now Blake has had 2 days of successful feedings.  He is still learning and so are we.  We are considering this step as great progress and we are getting close to the day when Blake can come home.

Today, Saturday was just another day in the NICU.  Blake stayed on his feeding plan and did pretty well napping.  He did enjoy a visit from his aunt Jenny.  Blake also had fun playing with one of his toys.  He looks so cute in a new outfit from his aunt Chris.
