1 Month Old

We can't believe that Blake has been with us for one whole month.  He continues to feed well and is gaining weight.  He is now up to 5 lbs. and  9 oz.  He goes to the doctor tomorrow.

Blake is getting use to his home surroundings.  He enjoys going for walks.  He is starting to like his swing and bouncy seat more.  But his 2 favorite things are his sling and his froggy.

Play Time with Blake

Blake seems to enjoy playing with his toys.  He likes to look at all the different shapes of the toys and listen to the music.  He even reaches out to touch the different animals.
Here is a video of Blake playing with one of his favorite toys, Froggy.

3 Weeks Old

Are you ready for some Football?
We can't believe Blake is 3 weeks old already and has been home with us for a whole week.  Blake had fun hanging out on Sunday with Dad watching the pitiful Rams game.  He did fall asleep half way through.  He also talked via Skype with his Uncle Jon and Aunt Julie in Arkansas.

Adjusting to Home

Blake did well his first night at home.  He was very restful.  We are all continuing to adjust to being home.  We certainly have our good times and our fussy times.  Blake seems to enjoy taking in his new surroundings.  He just loves to look all around his room.  Yesterday, Blake had a few visitors.  He is very grateful for all of the gifts and the yummy food.  Today we went for a walk and he tried out his bouncey seat.

Blake is Home!

Blake just got home today!  It was a great car ride home.  He loved the car. He liked listening to Hair bands like Dokken and Firehouse on his way home.

Progress and Answers

As of Thursday, we met with the Occupational Therapist/Feeding Specialist.  She was great!  After observing Blake take a bottle she realized that he needed a special bottle.  Once we got Blake comfortable he was able to take in 40 ml. of milk with no problems.  They put Blake on a strict feeding plan so he must take at least 40 ml. of milk in 20 minutes without falling asleep and do this every 3 hours.  The schedule can be quite grueling but Blake is gaining weight.  Yesterday he put on 2 more ounces.  Now Blake has had 2 days of successful feedings.  He is still learning and so are we.  We are considering this step as great progress and we are getting close to the day when Blake can come home.

Today, Saturday was just another day in the NICU.  Blake stayed on his feeding plan and did pretty well napping.  He did enjoy a visit from his aunt Jenny.  Blake also had fun playing with one of his toys.  He looks so cute in a new outfit from his aunt Chris.
